Philip Peters joined the Lexington Institute in April 1999. Since 1996 he has traveled regularly to Cuba to monitor and write about economic and political developments. Peters is an advisor to the Cuba Working Group in the House of Representatives. He has testified before Congress and the U.S. International Trade Commission and has given talks on Cuba and U.S. policy to diverse audiences. He also writes on trade and immigration policy. Prior to joining Lexington, Peters served as a State Department appointee of Presidents Reagan and Bush (six years), and as a senior aide in the House of Representatives. He graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (1978) and the Georgetown University Graduate School (M.A. 1986, National Security Studies).
